As the digits rise in temperature, so does the need for a full spring wardrobe makeover. Spring shopping sets the tone of what you are going to wear leading up to the all-so-important summer season and lightens up your mood as the harsh winter season draws away. In answering the century old question of “what to wear for spring”, I am here to at least solve the accessory side of problem for you.
Peonica London is a young contemporary designer brand that is quintessentially British. Having lived in London for half my life, I have always been fond of the characteristics and attitude of the London street style. I am also partial to home grown designers that are young, fresh, full of talents and ready to take on the world of fashion with their bags of ingenious ideas. Peonica London’s designer Zoë, like her design, was also born and bred in London. Always passionate for fashion, Zoë set up her own label following studies at London College of Fashion and Parson School of Design in New York. “The mission of Peonica is to create beautiful handbags that can be worn everyday from morning till night.” the designer tells me, “I love designing statement pieces that can spice up an outfit, let it be a ballgown or pair of denim jeans.”
It is often said that the designer’s personality transpires in their work. This is definitely the case for Peonica London. The bags are unapologetically girlie, bold, sweet in nature yet loud in various colours, with attention to detail and high end product finishing quality – mirroring the designer’s pursuit for perfection. All bags are made of hand selected leather in Italy and all the craftsmanship is done locally in London. “At a small family run workshop,” Zoë tells me, “where everything is made with love and care for generations.”
Peonica London introduced its third and latest design, the heart shaped Amour Bag, in late February 2016 and the one and only Anna Wintour has already got hers over London Fashion Week. Made with a choice of different leathers, the Amour Bag is the perfect blend of girly daintiness with quirky structure. The design of hard exterior prevents the bag from losing its adorable shape when being used in daily life and makes it a lot more endurable.
It is amazing how with only three main lines of designs, the different colours and textures give the bags such different personalities. Whilst the peach coloured Tasselbella clutch (pictured above) is stylishly sweet and gentle (pictured below and one of my personal favourites), the same style in black is full of biker girl vibe and would go perfectly well with an edgier look. Following the original design of Tasselbella, Peonica London subsequently launched the popular Stardust Cross Body Bag which can also be worn as a clutch thanks to its removable glossy chain strap. The metallic pink Stardust is the perfect addition to a simple yet stylish monochrome outfit and guaranteed to add a pop of happy colour to your day.
If you have been paying attention to my previous posts, you would know that bag charm is a big trend at the moment thanks to Karl Lagerfeld and his forward thinking fashion mastermind. Whilst Fendi’s Bag Bug will set you back a eye-watering £500 – £850 (approx. $700 – $1,200), Peonica London offers an entire range of PomPom Bag Charms that are made of the fluffiest high quality fur and Nappa leather and won’t break the bank. From the signature Rainbow Fox Tail Bag Charm that has been seen on blogger Bryanboy, to the simply irresistible Pink Mink Rabbit Key Ring and the Smiley Face Yellow PomPom, the fabulous and fun accessory will sure give your spring outfit that little bit of extra spice.
