Just because the holidays are over doesn’t mean you should call glamour winter dressing quits. January is officially the best time to brave the low digits in temperature and put your best party foot (and self) out for the world to admire. Here are the hottest shoes of the moment to carry you through the doldrums as well as what your choices of footwear say about you and your party style.

Christian Louboutin Daffodile

The queen of the party and the firm believer of “the higher the better”, you can only attend the party if Goose and Chris are present together with some foie gras and caviar. We don’t call it high maintenance, we simply call it “life”. After all, how do you party without a table, really?

Aquazzura Wild Thing

The style insider, you will never miss a pair of heels that combines sexy with subtleness – not forgetting the side bonus of fun with the tassels. Dance your night away without the pain of little mermaid – 10cm heels are considered sensible after all.

Poppy X Aquazzura By Poppy Delevingne

A dreamer and worshiper of all things sparkly, you love to look at the world through your rose-tinted glasses. And why not? The world is a much better place when everyone has a smile on their face and Cinderella’s slippers on their feet.

Christian Louboutin So Kate

You are the definition of sophistication and a pair of patent So Kate is so you. The 12cm heel height may kill you slightly after an hour, but the Wonder Woman never gives in. You are always the perfect host and a usual night of fun is more than likely to start in your 5-star dining room with a gourmet three course meal fit for a Michelin star restaurant, followed by champagne toasts with your guests overlooking the fabulous view in your fabulous living room.

Sophia Webster Evangeline Angle Wing

Quirky, fun, pretty and never turning down a shot of patron, you are equally content in a dive bar on the Lower East Side of Manhattan as you would be in the ball room at the Four Seasons. Everyone loves your sparkling personality and the never ending surprises in your style – enjoy your status as the leader of the fashion wolf pack.

Dior Dioressence Pumps

One of my personal favourites, so don’t call me biased on this one! Lady-like, elegant, sophisticated, confident, playful and girlie, Dior is everything and the Dioressence design reflects this. They may look simple with seemingly few changes in details, but they always capture onlookers attention without fail.

Dior Patent Calfskin Thigh High Boots With Translucent Heel

Sex appeal to the max and not a hint of trashiness, you are not one to shy away from fashion risks and prefer your outfits loud yet stylish. Attention seeking outfit however does not equal party queen, you will not entertain the idea of “one too many” and prefer to stay glamourous and on point throughout the night.

Gianvito Rossi Metallic Ankle Strap Heels

Simplicity is the essence of you, but so is a little naughtiness. The metallic gianvitto give you mile long legs with the class and elegance you adore, plus why would you get the state-of-the-art pedicure if it won’t for that you could showcase them all night?

Giuseppe Zanotti Diva

A admirer of the full on Italian charm, you are not afraid to show a bit of skin, or a lot. You are never the wall flower and neither are your shoes. Always the centre of attention wherever you go, and probably not just for your looks and outfit alone. It is the attitude that matters, darling.

Alaïa Cutout Suede Sandals

You are label driven and there’s nothing wrong with it if Alaïa is the chosen designer. You are likely to be Russian or an Upper East Sider from New York City. But regardless, you would not allow your winter party to go down without inviting the most fabulous crowd to celebrate at the most fabulous St. Regis event room which you have booked 28 months in advance.

Saint Laurent, Balmain, Alexander Wang and Givenchy’s It Shoes Of The Season

You are the girl who rocks the designer-grunge, punk-chic look with a bucket load of high fashion. You are the hipster princess that all hipsters aspire to be and you hang out at the coolest, least cliché and most happening places. And the DJs are always your friend. Make sure you Instagram everything whilst it is happening, because after all, did it really happen if it is not on Instagram?

Chanel Satin Pump With Perforated Heel

You are not a trend follower and neither are you a big fan of setting them. You like the demureness and style that comes with the brand and you like to dress your children as a mini version of you. You are probably not going to be the table top dancing enthusiastic but that’s ok, because frankly, that has never been your thing.

Once the dreadful January has passed, the most romantic day of the year draws close. Everyone wants to spoil their loved ones and with not many days to go before Valentine’s Day 2016, many will inevitably enter into a panic over what to gift their significant other with on this significant day (nothing wrong with indulging in commercial cheerfulness once in a while). Look no further for your ultimate gift guide for the best presents for her this Valentine’s Day— all links included for research-free shopping! You can thank me later.

PLUS: THE BEST VALENTINE’S DAY GIFTS FOR HIM

The Fluffy Love

2016 continues to be a year for all things micro and fluffy. Karl Lagerfeld has single handedly revamped and pioneered the “charm” industry worth billions and the Fendi Bag Bug continues to top the wishlists of many. Let it be the fluffy version of a miniature Karl himself (appropriately named “Karlito” of course), or the personalised colourful ABCharms with her initial on, you are guaranteed many kisses in return for your thoughtful choice.

The Cherry On Top

Hat is not an obvious choice category when it comes to present picking, but it definitely should be. Gifting her with a demure and stylish hat piece will not only earn you the much-deserved impressed look from your partner, but also endless fashion brownie points from all her girlfriends. Pick the blue Virginie or the earthy-toned Henrietta by Maison Michel Paris and be prepared for the amount of praises you will be receiving in the next two months.

The Quirky Charm

For something truly unique and currently under the radar (although I’m sure not for long!), check out Patricia Chang’s capsule range of handbags and accessories that are quirky, fun, and super wearable. Current personal favourites are the Pig wrislet (that is a teeny bag you strap on your wrist, naturally), the French Toast cross body bag, and the French Mouse bag/makeup bag.

The Higher The Better

No female would turn down a pair of heels, especially when they come with the lust-worthy glossy red soles. A style that is classic and feminine is recommended, as louder designs can be a hit-or-miss subject to personal taste. Pink is also the colour of the moment, representing the girlie romance of the Valentine’s Day. A pair of the pink patent So Kate or Mrs Earl (pictured) are both wonderful choices.

The Fitness Guru

If you are the ultimate health-conscious couple who are majorly into fitness, workout must-haves can be the most practical presents. Over the past two years we have all witnessed the rise of the sportswear trend and now workout clothes/accessories are more fashionable than ever! Maximise the designer factor with the Studio Bag by Adidas X Stella McCartney or pick the Sage crop top and Riley crop tights from Bandier. To top it off, include a beautifully designed bottle from S’well (pictured)- cute and functional all in one sleekly designed package and drinking water has never been so chic.

The Grand Gesture

Whether you are thinking of popping the big question on this year’s Valentine’s Day and or just want to surprise her with something that is sparkly yet meaningful and non-cliché, MiaDonna will be the best pick. Founded by former model turned activist, Anna-Mieke Anderson, MiaDonna has been creating ethical, lab-created, man-made and conflict-free diamond engagement rings and jewelry since 2005 without harming native communities, society or the earth. The jewelry line features classic design and delicate details, not to mention at a fraction of the regular cost for similar sized natural stones. The pink Diamond Halo Martini Earrings and the Halo Emerald Cushion Pendant are timeless classics whilst the Key Earrings add a playful twist to the polished elegance. For engagement rings, either go with the simple design of Tracie (single-stone solitaire ring) or make her jaw drop with the fancy shapes of the Monica and Katherine Ring.

Today officially marks the start of the Valentine’s Week – that’s right, you only have a few days left to prepare and make the day special! As a woman I know how difficult it is to select the right presents for men, simply because 90% of the market products are aimed at the female population (check out my other guide for the best presents for her). A good gift will not only make his day but also helps to show your love and appreciation for him, especially when he has been the best boyfriend/fiancé/husband all year long and deserves the best. Now I have done the legwork so you don’t have to, just scroll down and click for the best presents for him this Valentine’s Day.

PLUS: THE BEST VALENTINE’S DAY GIFTS FOR HER
For The Quietly Fashionable

If your man refuses to partake in your style debate but secretly eyeing up the Louis Vuitton window when walking by, he could be more into fashion than he led on and a long-lasting designer piece could be just what he wants. A Goyard card holder is both practical and timelessly stylish. You can also personalise your gift by adding his initials and unique motif designed by you in a colour of your choice! Visit the Goyard website to receive the design reference by email before heading to the stores. Alternatively, a Burberry sterling silver money clip is also top choice for its simple, discreet elegance.

For The Understated Gentleman

A man is not complete without a woman, they say. But in the modern days it seems that a gentleman’s outfit is not complete without his wrist gadget – a watch. Although Rolex and Cartier are still sound choices, they can be a bit predictable. Choosing IWC’s newly launched and improved version of the classic Pilot’s Collection will inevitably surprise him. Pleasantly surprised, that is. On the front of the Big Pilot’s Watch Annual Calendar Edition “Le Petit Prince”, the feature that stands out first and foremost is the attractive colour combination. Combined with the red gold of the case, hands and appliqués as well as the dark brown of the Santoni calfskin strap, the shimmering blue sun-pattern finish on the dial underscores the exclusive character of this time piece. You simple can’t go wrong with it, even the name is romantic. This exclusive style is not available online but you will get the pleasure of visiting one of IWC’s showrooms – click here to find one nearest to you.

For The Proudly Metrosexual

Metrosexual has not only become accepted socially but now a preferred quality in men ever since David Beckham proudly displayed his love for hair grooming and unisex fashion choices (I will forever treasure the memory of him in a sarong). And why not? All girls like their men smelling of roses with soft chapsticked lips. Metrosexual guys are into details, so pick up the Lanvin Pre-Tied Polka Dot Bow Tie and Floral Pin, or the Hermès stainless steel horse head shaped Jolly Jumper Clip and watch his face light up upon opening the gift box.

For The Unapologetically Flamboyant

If he is able to pronounce Balmain and Givenchy better than you and has a closet rivalling your most fashion-conscious girlfriend, it will be hard to impress him with lukewarm options that are “safe”. Lucky for you, Giuseppe Zanotti is here to rescue with his full-on Italian charms. Following the huge success of his signature Coby Sneakers, the designer continues to incorporate metallic accents into male footwear and the result? A range of sleek and attention worthy shoes, loafers and fashion sneakers. The AXEL loafers in gentle grey suede are just the right present for your daringly stylish other half, and to guarantee a jaw dropping moment, pick the DEVON low-top sneakers with python-embossed leather featuring gold details.

For The Hipster Trendy

When your other half is trendy by attitude and looks down on all things polished and cliché, it could be tricky to grasp exactly what could be the one thing that leads you to his heart. A pair of Cutler And Gross sunglasses with retro round lenses that are big but super wearable could just be what he needs. Or, if you both are heading to a tropical destination soon, a pair of Thorsun Swim Shorts will also be a great pick that is both timely and special.

With my eternal love for towering heels, it is not often that shoes with less than 10cm of height (or 4 inches) catch my attention. My understanding of comfort is limited when it comes to footwear with high heels: how is one supposed to have the delicate posture of the Little Mermaid if it weren’t for the constant feeling of pain? Don’t get me wrong, I love a pair of ballet pumps as much as the next girl but surely when shoes come with heels, the heels should be high. And it is perfectly fine if those heels aren’t made for walking, or at least not made for walking beyond the standard “curb to cab” distance.

So imagine my own surprise when I discovered Ming Ray‘s debut collection of a range of mid to low heels and found myself notably attracted to the dainty sophistication and exquisite craftsmanship presented (Italian, of course).

Ming Ray is a new player in the world of luxury footwear and handbags for female, which has been a major market focus for many big-name fashion houses, not to mention a handful of top tier brands whose sole expertise is shoe-making, such as Christian Louboutin and Aquazzura. However Ming Ray offers a completely different concept: Haute Cute. Having honed her skills at Alexander McQueen and Jimmy Choo, the designer Mingray herself isn’t new to the industry and knows fully well what she wants to achieve: “Haute Cute is the combination of Haute Couture quality and the Japanese pop culture of Kawaii, which is the Japanese term for cute. It describes all of the refinement and elegance of luxury, but with a touch of lighthearted innocence that every sophisticated woman still carries in her.”

Yes, one of Ming Ray’s focus in design is functionality, together with beauty, comfort and timelessness. I believe for many, especially myself, functionality has never been associated with heeled shoes, and comfort and timelessness has never been associated with beauty. The signature design of Akira pumps (pictured above) features 7cm heels (just shy of 3 inches) with Swarovski-encrusted embellishment, making them the perfect choice for day-to-night dressing that allows women to look and feel great throughout the day. Another favourite of mine is the Hana flower pump (pictured below) with 3cm heels (about an inch high). The caging design incorporates the current trend elements whilst the soft pink and flowers contrast the harshness of the black and add a ton of playful girlie-ness into the finished look.

Together with a range of mid to low heeled shoes, Ming Ray also designed a range of clutches made of exotic leather and Swarovski crystals for her debut collection. The result? Long lasting dreaminess. Miniature animal figures are frequently used and integrated into the design—the swallows on the Akira Pumps, the white rabbit on the Bunny Clutch, and the most exquisite of all, the butterflies on the Prima clutches. The Prima Clutches are made of luxurious glossy alligator skin and come in two heavenly colours: peachy blush and emerald green. The unique half moon shaped handle is fun yet sturdy, making it possible to dangle the clutch on one’s arm and again combining functionality with its fairytale design.

I adore how Ming Ray’s collection isn’t scared to bring back the pure femininity in a fashion world that is currently worshipping utility wear (think Alexander Wang) and grunge chic (think Saint Laurent). Crushing my initial reservation on the concept of comfort and functionality, I’m watching this space for Ming Ray.

Ming Ray is exhibiting her AW16 collection at SCOOP London at the Saatchi Gallery from February 21-23, 2016 and at Tranoi Femme at Carrousel Du Louvre in Paris between March 4-7.

Fake it until you make it, they say. Mainly applied to business conduct, the idea also runs true to attending fashion shows during the most frenzy few weeks of the year. With New York Fashion Week well underway and London, Milan, Paris to follow, you need to be well prepared to take the fashion weeks head on, especially when you are a newbie trying to fit in the world of fashion week pros.

1.DO PREPARE IN ADVANCE

All good things come with good preparation. If you are not the lucky few that are showered with designers’ invitations every season, you need to work your magic to get on that list. If you do not belong to the buyer/press/celebrity/socialite/blogger category, can you still attend the shows? The answer is an encouraging yes, depending on whose door you are knocking on (I wouldn’t hold my breath for a Chanel invitation in PFW anytime soon). Each fashion week will have their own dedicated website (i.e. LFW at www.londonfashionweek.co.uk) where participating designers are listed together with the contact details for press or sales. Start with shows that are new or less well known to the wider population, and send your request to the appropriate person. It will also help if you volunteer to cover the story on the show for a magazine or online publication. Failing that, each fashion week will also have related events and trunk shows that are open to public – i.e. the trunk shows in Paris or the London Fashion Weekends.

2.RSVP IN GOOD TIME

By now you would have received a few invites and if you are looking to attend specific runway shows please do make sure you notify/RSVP to the fashion house in advance so to ensure that your spot is confirmed. It is good etiquette and manners as your notification will enable the event organiser to plan ahead and avoid last minute chaos.

3.PLAN YOUR DAILY SCHEDULE STRATEGICALLY

If you are planning on attending a few fashion shows and visiting a number of designer show rooms on the same day, make sure you map out your schedule strategically. Whilst most fashion week shows are scattered within a relatively small area in the city, you still need to allow sufficient travel time to arrive at the correct location, ideally half an hour or more in advance. Traffic can be impossible during these days and weather condition could be challenging (snow and ice in New York, constant rain in London), it is always a good idea to hone your power walking skills in heels weeks in advance and incorporate a stylish hat into your fashion week ensemble on a rainy day.

Credit: Getty Image

Credit: Getty Images

4.DRESS THE PART AND DON’T BE AFRAID TO BE YOURSELF

What to wear could be the biggest question for anyone attending fashion week shows. The truth is, it could all be very intimidating when you are solely judged on what you wear, particularly if you are sitting in the same room with Anna Wintour or Kate Moss (excitement and horror all at the same time!).  It is good to dress the part, but certainly do not feel the pressure to conform to the norm. If you have a strong personal style, now it is your chance to show the world. Let your motto be less is more or more is more, the fashion world is your oyster. It is not always essential to wear the designer’s piece when attending the show, but showing up at Miu Miu wearing head to toe Moschino is almost certainly deemed inappropriate.

Credit: Getty Images

5.DO MINGLE WITH YOUR FELLOW ATTENDEES

Let’s face it, people in fashion do not look like they are the most easy to approach people on this planet. However under that fabulous exterior, everyone in the room with you has the same passion for fashion. Do break the ice and introduce yourself to attendees seated around you, you may bond over love for excessive accessorising or hate for gladiator sandals.

Credit: Getty Image

Credit: Getty Images

6.HAVE A GOOD TIME

Now you are in, watching the show of your dreams, mingling with people who love or hate the same things as you do, there is only one thing left to do – enjoy yourself. Soak in the atmosphere, observe the details of the garments and watch how the colours shimmer or how they move as the models stride along: these are the experiences that cannot be captured or transmitted simply through a high definition camera.

Hill & Friends AW16 Presentation

Hill & Friends AW16 Presentation

You and I both remember the glorious days of Mulberry: pastel hues, girlish charms and the oh-so-amazing handbag collections season after season. For quite a few years, the Bayswaters and Alexas were the only bags that mattered: they were practical, they were hip, they were simply the must-have accessories for all It girls. Emma Hill, being the former Creative Director of Mulberry, the much talked-about and celebrated key figure who not only turned Mulberry into a major player in the fashion industry but also managed to achieve an all-time high stock price in 2012, has launched her own handbag label Hill & Friends together with former Mulberry Brand Director Georgia Fendley.

Hill & Friends AW16 Presentation

Hill & Friends AW16 Presentation

Hill & Friends is a young label only at its second collection, however, it is not difficult to see how it’s fast gaining popularity and momentum. Both Emma and Georgia believe in uncompromising quality but also attainability – their designs average at £660 a pop (that’s about $870) with entry price at £350 ($460) for a small bag. The business partners did not want their label to follow the current trend of accessible brands increasing their prices in hope to enter the luxury goods market, but lacking the quality, heritage or the exquisite design to match (no offence Kurt Geiger).

Hill & Friends Founders Emma Hill And Georgia Fendley

Hill & Friends Founders Emma Hill And Georgia Fendley

Emma and Georgia definitely want to make it right: every bag is suede lined and made by hand in the factory with lots of love and, in true British fashion, plenty of tea breaks! Emma tells me:” I’ve never been a snob about pricing, I like an honest price/value relationship – it’s not about being the most expensive, it should be about being the best in the category, whatever your positioning.” And what about their target audience? “We wanted to create a brand for women like us, with products that are of exquisite quality, functional and beautiful… but they are not about a status driven out of anxiety, they are a serious product with a playful wink and a subversive twist. Our products are for grown up girls who don’t take themselves too seriously and haven’t forgotten how to have fun.”

The Hill & Friends AW16 Collection Of Happy Zippy Bags

The Hill & Friends AW16 Collection Of Happy Zippy Bags

Some fashion reports have indicated the similarity in designs between the iconic Mulberry bags and the current Hill & Friends products. I can definitely see the separating differences: Emma and Georgia have introduced a fun flair to their young business venture and it shows in their range of products. The metallic leather, the neon colour, the spotted pattern and the functional yet stylish structure are all distinctly unique and alluring.

The Hill & Friends AW16 Collection Of Happy Twency Chain Bags

The Hill & Friends AW16 Collection Of Happy Tweency Chain Bags

This is only Hill & Friends’ second collection and the brand’s first focus was to expand the product range to include more micro bag styles with an extensive choice in colour and material composition. My personal favourite (which is also a favourite for Emma, even though she denies having one “it’s like picking your favourite child!”) is definitely the standout star of the season: the Tweency Bag (as pictured above). A micro bag with a convertible strap, it can be worn cross-body or on the shoulder. Unlike other micro bags that are five out of ten on practicality, the Tweency is still big enough to carry your phone, keys, lipstick and all the other essential stuff we girls need despite its deceptively cute and itsy bitsy exterior. The bag features the Hill & Friends iconic wink twist lock and it’s going to be available in a candy store collection of beautiful colours and materials (stay tuned!).

[vimeovid id=”162351460″]

Meanwhile before the full AW16 collection lands in Hill & Friends’ flagship store (aka their proudly presented website), why not treat yourself to the fabulous Happy Satchel with crazy leopard print in pink, or get ready for fall with next season’s Happy Zippy Bag in the most lusted-after shade of maroon.

We girls want everything: flawless complexion, ample chest and a firm, peachy behind. However above all, no one can deny the irresistible appeal of a pair of long, shapely legs that stretches endlessly yet proportionately. Christian Louboutin, with its sexy red sole, has been known for creating the perfect feminine silhouette that all women long for. Its signature “Nudes” range of heels have been my personal go-to collection when I want to discreetly add a few inches to my pins and looking effortlessly chic at the same time. Now Christian Louboutin has launched addition of elegant new hues to the Nudes Collection, which offers a nude tone shoe for every women – hooray!

The Nudes Collection originally launched in 2013 with five shades of nude colour and four styles, and has instantly become a classic and wardrobe staple. The key element of wearing the Nudes Collection is picking the right colour of nude, as it is important to ensure the transition from calf leather to skin is smooth and seamless in order to creates long, flawless legs. For Spring 2016, Christian Louboutin introduces two new hues Nude #1 (porcelain) and Nude #7 (chocolate), bringing the range to a total of 7 colours. Together with the new Nudes, a pointy-toe ballet flat Solasofia (as pictured above and below, available for $595 in the US or £450 in the UK) has been introduced with the new season.

If you are like me and permanently looking for the right pair of flats that go with everything, Solasofia would be for you. I love the classically Parisian silhouette of Solasofia for it is both understated and versatile. It is equally stunning when worn with a pair of denim shorts, a work environment friendly suit, or even a Little Black Dress, and the pointy toe design makes it smart enough to carry its duty well into the night.

Of course, for the sky-is-the-limite killer-heel lovers, the new Nudes range will also be available in original classic designs such as Pigalle 100mmSo Kate 120mm, and the more daring Deepik 120mm (as pictured below).

Christian Louboutin offers the Spring 2016 Nudes in a new material: a soft, flexible, butter-like matte nappa leather. Compared to the classic kidskin frequently used in the previous Nudes Collection, the texture of the new leather shows less sheen and mimics the feeling of skin, allowing the shoe to completely disappear on the leg and further alluding to a feeling of nudity and hence, even longer legs! Don’t forget to tweet/Instagram/Snapchat your newly acquired Nudes and join the conversation at @LouboutinWorld using hashtag #NudesForAll.

It would seem that every fashion designer under the sun is busy catching the next runway show: New York, London, Milan, Paris, then all over again. And It would also seem that all designers are constantly pushing out new seasonal collections: Spring/Summer, Resort, Pre-Fall, Autumn/Winter, Capsule Collections, Collaborated Designs… So imagine the breeze of fresh air I feel upon my encounter with 2002DNA – a new designer label launched in 2016 with only two seasons a year: Summer and Winter.

Ezgi Cinar, the designer behind 2002DNA and its debut “HERO” collection, talks to me about her instinctual desire to be in fashion and launch her own brand: “nothing concrete has inspired me to create the brand, I woke up one day and just knew this is what I am gonna do. Since when I was a kid I always defined my own personal style, which I still stick to regardless of the current trend, and I have been all about fashion, fabrics and styles ever since.”

Rather unusual in this modern age, Ezgi grew up without the key element in any child’s life – a television, “until the age of 9”, Ezgi explains of her current collection, “that’s why the ‘HERO’ collection is inspired by fairy tales and comic books I used to read and love as a child. My heroes exist in books and stories.”

Ezgi sees her designs as the fairy tale gowns for everyday wear. She loves clothing that underlines and emphasize the beauty of a woman, and this fondness of feminine details is showcased in all pieces of the “HERO” collection. The ELECTRA series of bralet, see-through top and lacy skirt perfectly reflect her vision in design. The pieces are delicate and soft to touch, made with the highest quality fabric and incorporating carefully ruched lace details. “I am not a huge fan of the mainstream definition of ‘chic’ that comprises of simple lines and clean shapes”, Ezgi is not afraid to express her view on the current high street trend ruling the market, “The mass-designed and mass-produced ‘uniform’ worn by the most can be seen as stylish and modern by some, but it is a bit boring and lacks individuality to me”.

I have to agree with Ezgi – if I want to wear a dress made of only lace or one with stitched flowers all over during the day, instead of the usual Zara light blue pin striped shirt, why shouldn’t I? Clothes should be worn to express one’s individuality, not to be saved for any particular occasion. The Poison Ivy dress (as pictured below), from the “HERO” collection, is definitely a dress I am happy to be wearing every day. The burnt orange color combined with the brightest turquoise blue creates the most striking visual impact, and the rich beading adds the extra sparkle and texture to the whole look. I also adore how Ezgi pairs the sultry sheer layers with the innocent peter pan collar – flirtatious, but still a lady.

Speaking of fabrics, Ezgi is careful in what makes into her selection. Most of the textiles (lace, tweed, velvet) are handmade to couture standard. Ezgi wants to make the women who wear her creations to feel exclusive and beautiful.  “Exclusivity is very important to me. That’s the reason why the dresses are not mass produced – there is only one available in any particular size, at any particular store.”

Looking through the 2002DNA “HERO” collection is like flipping through a romantic storybook. The looks are of soft pastel colors like gray, cream and tan, with the occasional eye popping black and blue. The shapes are flowy yet daring, and the looks created are girlie, sexy yet different and non-conforming to any trend.

“2002DNA is a tribute to courageous, passionate women. It is dedicated to the queen who lives in every one of us.” And with that, Ezgi perfectly summarized her exclusive brand, and the “casual-couture” idea she firmly believes in.

Five Australian Fashion Labels You Need To Know Now https://www.demureandstylish.com/australianlabelsyouneedtoknow/ https://www.demureandstylish.com/australianlabelsyouneedtoknow/#respond Sat, 12 Sep 2015 07:16:19 +0000 http://demo.17thavenuedesigns.com/sandbox/?p=98

This is a repost from my Forbes Lifestyle article which you can find from here.

Gone are the eras when every fashionista under the sun is wearing either Gucci or Prada. With the rapid growth of fresh young designer talents assisted by the blurred borders and fast information exchange thanks to the rise of the age of social media, the trend setters are constantly looking for the next one-of-a-kind pieces to wear on their backs, and preferably all before the designers become known to the rest of the industry.

Australia has in the past been neglected by the fashion world due to its geographical location and the inconveniences caused by the reversal of seasons. However a crop of new-generation, fierce, home-grown Australian designers have made several applauded international appearances at many a widely watched events, and quickly established themselves over recent years.

Despite my selfish intention to keep these brands under the radar forever, I am here to share with you my top five Australian fashion brand picks because you simply need to know now.

Zimmermann

I bought my first Zimmermann dress five years ago on Net-a-Porter and have instantly fallen in love with the unique design. Initially known for its high-end swimwear and resort wear when the label began in 1991, Zimmermann has now branched into wider scope of clothing and the most recent few collections are absolutely to die for. The brand has now charmed the fashion elites with its signature billowy design with mesh, cutouts, layering details and powdery colours. Zimmermann pieces are often rich in characteristics and unique in cutting, with fine details that are labour-intensive and time-consuming to produce. The Sydney-born sisters behind the label, Nicky and Simone Zimmermann, have managed to keep the brand fresh and interesting by continuously incorporating modern elements while staying true to its timeless image.

Favourite pieces from current collection include: Havoc Lattice Billow DressCrepe Harness JumpsuitSueded Silk Underwire Dress, and the signature Filigree Cuff Stilettos as seen in this season’s ad campaign.

Alice McCall

The Tinker Bell of its peer brands, Alice McCall has awaken the innocent girl in every woman’s heart. The brand’s designs are stylishly girlie and romantic, with a hint of flirtatious playfulness. There are plenty of cleverly disguised, non-obvious sweet sexiness in the pieces too, making them the perfect first date outfit choice.

Favourite pieces from current collection include: Crystallised Blush Blossom DressBack For Good DressShake It Off Blush Playsuit, and Baby I Am Amazed Powder Blue Playsuit.

Finders Keepers The Label

Finders Keepers is relatively a new player in the industry but has rapidly gained popularity with its attainable high street design in quality on-trend, effortlessly polished shapes and fabrics. Finders Keepers does not tend to keep to one range of particular design or a main theme, making it notably favoured by the trend-senstive girls in their 20s. The current collection provides a wide range of day to day staples with various fashion elements, such as fleshy colours and soft knits.

Favourite pieces from current collection include: Blow Your Mind Pinstripe BustierThe Runner Dress in gold sequin, Just My Luck Pastel Pink Sleeveless Top, and finally the Get Away Shorts.

C/MEO Collective

One of the most seen on fashion bloggers, C/MEO Collective draws attention with its uncomplicated designs and flowing shapes. C/MEO items are often surprisingly endurable and long-lasting considering individual garments from the label are super easy to pair with other key pieces to create a number of unique and on-trend looks.

Favourite pieces from current collection include: Perfect Lie DressBetter Things Dress, and The Fiction Shirt Dress.

Dion Lee

Minimalistic, careful in selection of colours and in simple yet unusual shapes, Dion Lee is an Australian brand not meant for the fashion faint-hearted. Known for his architectural take on the contemporary design and luxurious fabrics, flares of individualism and intense personality of the brand also transpires in all his collections. The pieces demonstrate clean lines and flowy shapes that are undeniably feminine, but in an unexpected way.

Favourite pieces from current collection include: Asymmetric Pinstriped Stretch-Cady DressCutout Merino Wool SweaterCutout Silk-Chiffon And Crepe De Chine Top, and the Ruffled Scuba And Tech-Jersey Skirt as seen on the runway.
